E.S Lords International School Salangai Pooja

On 14.11.2022 we have organized salangai Pooja in our school. Salangai Pooja is a ceremony honoring the salangai or the ankle bells of the dancer. The most auspicious item of a dancer’s costume – it is placed at the altar and blessed and the dancer then receives the salangai from her Guru for the first time. Wearing it for the first time, the dancer takes her first steps onto the stage to tell the audience that she has learnt and is beginning to understand the divine and beautiful rhythm and movement – Bharathanatyam. We have invited “Kalaimamani Kalamandalam” Dr.Vichithra Palikkandy - H.O.D of Dance, Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam, Puducherry as our chief guest. Our institutions principals are invited as special guest. Dip.D.D., Mrs. C.Uma Maheswari, B.A.,D.el.ed Compere: Ms. K.Umabarathi, M.A.,B.Ed.,

Guru: Jhoncy is a passionate, disciplined, talented and a very hard working dance teacher. She teaches students adavus and hastas, a form of illustrative anecdote of Hindu religious themes which brings out the best in students, blooming into beautiful dancers.

Participant students are as follows:

• Sariga Sri. B D/o. Mr. E.Balamurugan & B.Gayathri. She is our kalaikoodam student from the age of 3 and had participated in various cultural programs at interschool level.'
• Veda shree.R.S D/o. Mr.K.Raja & R.Sangeetha is a dedicated dancer. She started her dancing from the age of 7 in our kalaikoodam. An active participant in and outside our school.
• Anushya .B.S D/o. of Mr.R.Bharathiraja and  B.Shalini . She is our Kalaikoodam student since 2016. An active participant in and outside our school.
• Jeyasri .J D/o. of Mr.K.Jawahar and  S.Megala . She is our Kalaikoodam student since 2016. She is well known for her impressive stage performance and magnificent expression.

Students gave devotional performance which was hugely appreciated by the audience. Our honorable Chairman appreciated our students and staff. The program concluded with National Anthem.
